Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been both a critical hit and a commercial success, with rights holder Disney reportedly expressing interest in more Indiana Jones games in the future.
This news comes from Windows Central journalist and leaker Jez Corden, who shared on an episode of the Xbox Two podcast that he’d “heard Disney picked up the phone and wants more Indiana Jones.” This follows the recent launch of Machine Games and Bethesda’s first-person adventure, which brought the iconic tomb raider’s exploits to life.
Earlier this month, Lucasfilm Games vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly also hinted at the potential for more Indiana Jones adaptations. While no official projects are in development yet, Reilly mentioned that the teams are “always looking for great stories” and noted the “plenty of space between the films” where new Indiana Jones tales could unfold.
Although official sales numbers for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle haven’t been revealed, Circana’s Mat Piscatella reported that the game debuted as the second best-selling title in its first full release week in North America—only behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This achievement is particularly notable given that the game launched on Xbox Game Pass. Critical reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with glowing reviews, including our own, and even Harrison Ford, despite previously stating no one else should play the character, praised both the game and Troy Baker’s “great” performance.
With critical acclaim, solid sales, and Disney’s apparent confidence, Machine Games seems well-positioned to expand on their unique blend of Nazi-fighting and puzzle-solving adventures in future Indiana Jones stories. Hopefully, they’ll also have the opportunity to wrap up their other iconic anti-Nazi series with Wolfenstein 3.
