Activision’s Team Ricochet has consistently worked to combat cheating in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but they acknowledged falling short during Season One. In a recent blog post (highlighted by IGN), the team admitted that while “The anti-cheat systems performed well during the Black Ops 6 launch window we missed the mark on integrating RICOCHET Anti-Cheat for Season 01, especially in Ranked Play.”
During the first week of Ranked Play alone, over 19,000 suspected cheaters were banned. These players were reportedly using aim-assist bots, wallhacks, and tools to exploit the in-game map. The team conducted “hourly sweeps” to purge cheaters from Ranked Play and its leaderboards.
Team Ricochet acknowledged the challenge of maintaining fair play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Ranked Play, stating: “We understand the allure of glory and recognition on Ranked Play leaderboards makes it a prime target for cheaters. Because of this, our teams have been particularly focused on creating the competitive environment our players deserve.”
In addition to banning over 19,000 accounts so far, the team revealed efforts to strengthen their anti-cheat measures. They have “significantly expanded our Replay Investigation render farm – the machines used to generate clips for examination. We’ve also increased the size of the team dedicated to manually reviewing clips (prioritized by detection flags). Recent updates to the Replay tool have proven highly effective in validating detections and player reports, refining AI training for the anti-cheat team, and removing cheaters.”
Their focus now is on “accelerating enforcement against cheaters who slip through initial checks, ensuring swift removal. We utilize a combination of systems, including human reviews, kernel driver detections to prevent memory tampering, client-side and server-side detections to identify suspicious activity, and AI tools to rapidly eliminate illicit accounts.”
Team RICOCHET continues to take a firm stance against cheaters in Warzone and Black Ops 6 Ranked Play. Over 20,000 accounts have been banned for cheating and boosting behaviors, reflecting their commitment to creating a fair and competitive environment.
The team has emphasized that they are actively listening to community feedback and taking decisive action to address concerns. By targeting cheaters who ruin the experience for others, Team RICOCHET aims to rebuild trust within the player base and ensure a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
With enhanced detection systems and reinforced safeguards, the fight for integrity in competitive gaming is stronger than ever, and Team RICOCHET remains dedicated to delivering results.
