Cliftonville defender Michael Newberry has passed away, the club announced.
The Northern Ireland international, who began his career at Newcastle, tragically passed away on his 27th birthday.
“Cliftonville Football Club is devastated to learn of the sudden passing of Michael Newberry,” the club said in a statement.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Michael’s family and friends, as well as the many teammates he played alongside throughout his career and the supporters who will be shocked and saddened by this heartbreaking news during such a difficult time. Rest in peace, Newbs.”
Newberry joined Cliftonville earlier this year after stints with Icelandic club Vikingur Ólafsvík and Linfield in Northern Ireland.
Monday’s matches between Cliftonville and Dungannon Swifts, as well as Linfield and Larne, have been postponed as a mark of respect.
