“As close allies, the American people share a profound bond of friendship with the people of South Korea, and we send our thoughts and prayers to those impacted by this tragedy,” said Biden.
South Korea experienced one of its deadliest air disasters yesterday when a Jeju Air passenger plane crashed at an airport in the country’s southwest. The plane, which was en route to Bangkok, Thailand, burst into flames upon landing, resulting in the deaths of all 178 passengers and crew members, with only two crew members surviving the crash.
Biden stated that the United States stands ready to offer any assistance South Korean authorities need to determine the cause of the plane crash.
The U.S. Transportation Safety Administration announced last night that it would send specialists to assist in the investigation of the tragic crash.
